I was kinda bored, just eating my dinner and wanting something to watch, so I checked out new stuff at crunchyroll.com and stumbled across Another. I watched it without reading anything about it, so wasn't too sure what to expect.

I guess it's some kind of ghost story suspense type of thing. The opening music was done by Ali Project, which is an instant win in my book. (Same who did a lot of the music for the .hack//Roots series, Avenger, and a few of my other favorites). The animation style was pretty good, and the ambient background music was really nice.

The story itself was a bit too familiar, but we'll see how it unfolds. Right now there is only one episode. Pretty typical plot - guy transfers to a new school from the city to a quiet school out in the middle of nowhere with a dark past and a secret all the students are too uncomfortable to talk about, etc. But it seems pretty well done and the ghost girl is kinda cute. :-P

The synopsis on Crunchyroll's website states:
Kouichi Sakakibara moves in with his grandparents in Yomiyama due to his father's job, but is soon hospitalized with a collapsed lung. When he joins the 9th grade's class 3 at Yomiyama North Middle School a month late, he is drawn to a girl with an eyepatch, Mei Misaki, whom he had coincidentally met in the hospital. Her mysterious air intrigues him, but though his classmates give him a warm welcome, none of them seem willing to acknowledge her...

There are three episodes out now (Monday release schedule), and so far it has been pretty much exactly what I expected. Some interesting events have happened which leave a lot to be answered. I'm curious if the residents of that town see that girl right before they die, and the only reason the main character can see her is because of the illness he had as a child or what...
